Bridgwater Tennis Club was delighted to accept the Somerset LTA ‘Connecting Communities Award’ presented by Andy Fay, SLTA Chair.
Club members together with members of our local community enjoyed a morning’s tennis followed by tea, coffee and delicious homemade cakes.
Here are just a few examples of how our club has reached out to our local community.
Our Rusty Racquets group welcomes asylum seekers staying in a local hotel and has secured funding from a local charity CHARISrefugees so they can participate in a tennis for beginners’ course.
We have supported the MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for several years, an event is planned for next month with a ‘Bake Off’ theme called the ‘Championship Tie Bake’, so look out for more on this!
A fund-raising event for the Children's Hospice South West, linking with the Bridgwater retail outlet, material was provided for a Wimbledon fortnight window display. Donations of used tennis balls were subsequently sold to local dog owners and raised funds for CHSW.
A BIG congratulations to everyone who has contributed towards this amazing collective achievement. Keep up the good work!
